Backward-Looking
How much did you know about the subject before we started? I knew what we would do by watching the videos from last year. At first, I felt it had no meaning for improving our English skills because we didn't have to speak English during Video Re-creations. However, now I can say that I could find new ideas and get skills to use media through this project. In what ways do you think you need to improve? I think I should know more about various skills to use computer. I don't use computer so often, so it is a little difficult for me to use it. If I know how to use computer effectively, I could make better one. What problems did you encounter while you were working on this piece? How did you solve them? When we decided the video, we had to consider many things such as the number of people in the music video and how the camera moves. We decided to imitate The Lazy Song, but it had some problems that we had to add two more people and prepare monkey masks. We discussed and gave ideas each other to solve the problems. |
Outward-Looking
If you were the teacher, what comments would you make about this piece? If I were the teacher, I would say that you should focus on the camera angle. This class is Media English and students should think about not dance but media, so I would not care so much about dance skills. I want students to think about movement of the camera and the effect of it. What do your classmates particularly notice about your piece when they look at it? I hope my classmates notice that we imitate not only dance but also looks like clothes, masks and sunglasses. The main man imitate mouse movement as well. If someone else were looking at the piece, what might they learn about who you are? I guess someone else might think we are fan of this artist because we imitate everything and it looks fun. |
Inward-Looking
How do you feel about this piece of work? What parts of it do you particularly like? Dislike? Why? What did/do you enjoy about this piece or work? I like the scene that we lift Sera. It was one of the most difficult scene because we have to match the timing of lifting her up with the music. I was so glad when it succeeded. What was especially satisfying to you about either the process or the finished product? I was satisfied with the process because we could cooperated with each other. Our team members were all cooperative, so it was easy to work together. We gathered together even outside of class times and gave our opinions and advices to improve our work. What did/do you find frustrating about it? We retook the video many times to make better one, but we couldn't fix the connection of two videos. I wanted to connect them more naturally if we could. |
Forward-Looking
What would you change if you had a chance to do this piece over again? I would practice dance more. I want to take video again after we practice and match our movements. What's the one thing that you have seen in your classmates' work or process that you would like to try in your next piece? I would like to try change music of one sence of movie. I was suurprised at the big differences between original and remake one. I noticed that back music and sound have big influence. What things you might want more help with? I wanted to help with editing process because I am not used to using Mac and don't know much about editing apps and skills. We tried to find helpful explanations of how to change the color of the screen on You Tube in Japanese because there are differences between English version and Japanese one, but we couldn't find. |
