Production
Mid process reflection
Why did you choose the type of production from the list below? How and why did you choose the media you used for your production?
What has been difficult so far? What role have you taken on in your group? What do you think will be difficult in for the next steps?
How will you address those difficulties? What do you look forward to?
When I watched some productions of last year, I was impressed the quality of Video Re-creations, especially Uptown Funk. I felt that it would be interesting to imitate PV because we can learn many things about media through it such as how to change the angle, effective and attractive editing and so on. We watch and know many PVs, but don't care about the details about it, so I thought it would be a good opportunity to know the process of how they are completed. We have to looked for suitable one for us considering the number of people and cuts, the difficulty of dance and the location. We watched many PVs and picked up some of them and then chose it because it is not quick tempo and many cuts, and we don't need special materials and skills. So far, I felt difficulties of position of people, timing of movement and camera angle. It is difficult to match our movements to the music. I think editing will be difficult in next step, but we took the video with music, so I think that it will be not so difficult. I look forward to comparing our work with the original one. I hope that it will look like original one.
Process Reflection Material:
what did you use to create your video? Why? How? Review?
Infrastructure: Design of your group/ schedule/ updates/ communication How? Why? For the Future? Message to the viewer.
We used iPad and stand to take the video. We took the video on different days, so it was difficult to match the angle with last time and also with the original one. We always focused on the angle, but we didn't do well in one place. The camera angle changed unnaturally. It is my regret. We used two teddy bears to match the number of people. I think it was creative but it was difficult when we had to do complicated movement because they were too small compared to us and two of us had to move them. We want to imitate a real one as much as we can, so we gathered together outside of this class. We retook the video many times and tried to match the timing and the angle. Editing was one of the difficult parts for us and it took more time than I had expected. Especially, I felt difficulty when we connected all separated videos naturally because we had to match not only with the song but also with the original video. We could cooperate very well. For example, we checked our dance and gave advices each other after taking one cut. Thanks to it, we could notice which movement is not match others and how we should improve it. I want viewers to give us advices and their honest thoughts to look back our work and use them in the future.
After you get feedback from your audience analyze you survey results and comment on the results
How were your survey questions? Do you think the people who answered your survey understood the questions? What are 2 additional questions you would add to this survey?
I think our survey questions were good because we made various types of questions such as choosing the level of feeling, choosing yes or no, writing the scene you like, and writing some comments. We want to know how good or bad our dance and timing were, so we made some questions about them. I was happy because more people gave us their comments than I had expected and almost all of them liked our dance and idea to use teddy bears, monkey masks and sunglasses. Everyone answered clearly, so I think it means they could understand our questions. If I could add two more questions, I would add "Why?" and "why not?" after first question (Did you enjoy this video?) because I want to know the reasons and feelings of the people who answered No. I also want to add "Which parts should we fix?" to know our week points and improve our video.
